Yellowstone Volunteer Fly Fishing

Truchas is committed to native trout, trout habitat, sensible regulations and conservation.  One of the coolest things we get to do is participate in the Yellowstone Volunteer Fly Fishing Program.  

Funded by Yellowstone Forever in cooperation with the NPS, this program relies on volunteers to collect data and implement conservation strategies in the Yellowstone ecosystem.  Fish counts and invasive mitigation are common projects, helping to improve knowledge about and the health of Yellowstone's native fish populations.

Truchas was a founding fundraiser for the program's successful relaunch in 2023, and has participated each year since.

Efforts in recent years have focused on assessing reintroduction efforts of grayling in a number of watersheds, identifying and mitigating rainbow trout incursions in the Slough Creek drainage, and year over year population estimates of alpine lakes.

Truchas Outdoors is a proud supporter of the Yellowstone Volunteer Fly Fishing Program and efforts at native trout conservation in the Yellowstone Caldera and beyond.
